I participated CAMM 2013 last weekend, generally that was a pretty good event, and I had lots of fun there after all.
Since the competition starts at 8:00 AM Sunday, May 12th, UCSD IEEE provided a practice session from Saturday 10AM until 8:00 AM Sunday.

My conclusion for all Mice this year:
1. More Mice are designed on PCB instead of perfboard makes more professional and reliable.
2. 3D printing is widely used for better component mounting.
3. Majority are still using Arduino based MicroController such as Arduino, Teensy and maple.[......]

In order to keep mouse stay in proper position all the time when in the maze, some calibration other than PID are need to reduce the chance to crash.

As a matter of fact, most of the Micromouse use infrared sensor to keep distance with wall when running, and it’s very easy to be affected by environmental light(noise) consequently cause crash.
